Benefits of Growing Your Own Food

With the rising costs of everything from food to gasoline it is no wonder many people are looking for alternate ways of getting the things they can. One such way many people have found of cutting costs is by growing their own fruits and vegetables.

In these times of economic hardships many people have reverted to the old ways of centuries past when people actually grew their own food and purchased very little.

Not only does this alternative cut the cost of food greatly but it is also much healthier for those consuming what is grown or raised by their own hand.

In days past farmers grew much of what was consumed by their families and in these times of economic hardships many people other than farmers have begun doing the same thing.

Home grown fruits and vegetables are often much safer because the person growing them know exactly what is put into their crops. This provides a greater sense of providing food that they know is safe for their families.

Commercially grown crops can have harmful pesticides and other chemicals used on them that we know nothing about. By growing our own we eliminate this health hazard by controlling what is used.
